Touchscreen mobile phones come in all shapes and sizes, from tiny touchy critters to big, powerhouse phones. Let's look at two of the coolest phones out there: the Nokia 5800 and the Sony Ericsson X1.

I've done a few articles on the Sony Ericsson X1, so I'm not going to get too bogged down in the features here. I could do, and I COULD go on about the 3 megapixel camera, or the GPS, or the media player, or the brand new interface, or the fact that the X1 is the first Sony Ericsson mobile phone to use Windows Mobile. But I won't. Instead, I'm going to focus on what features make it the king of internet-enabled mobile phones. It has to be said cheap supras, that most of the reasons for it being so good online come from it being based on Windows Mobile, so you get things like MSN Messenger, Internet Explorer and Outlook, built into the Sony Ericsson X1. Combine that with the blisteringly quick HSDPA internet access, and the absolutely marvellous QWERTY keyboard, and you get one heck of an internet device. Between the mid-range Nokia 5800 and the high-end Sony Ericsson X1, I'd say the touchscreen mobile phone market is looking rather healthy this year!
First up is a brand new member of Nokia's Xpress line of music mobile phones, the mouth-watering Nokia 5800. This one's pretty obviously built for music and video; you can tell by the separate XpressMusic touch-key that opens a list of shortcuts to music, videos, the web, and so on. Oh, and the Nokia 5800 has a 3.2 inch touch-sensitive display, to let you play with those different media content. Basically, the Nokia 5800 was created to be a little portable jukebox and movie player, and as music devices go Supras Cruizer, this is just about the sweetest. The Nokia 5800 also has, built-in, a 3 megapixel camera, HSDPA internet access and GPS, making it a brilliant all-round mobile phone, as well as a brilliant media player. Oh, and it has a strap to fasten on a fake guitar pick. That's pretty cool, that.
Touchscreen mobile phones have only ever really enjoyed modest success over history, beginning way back when, with the IBM Simon (a phone about the size of Nicaragua), and progressing forwards to include mobile phones like the Sony Ericsson P800 and the Motorola A920. In actual fact, Sony Ericsson have been one of the main proponents of the touchscreen movement, with their P-Series mobile phones frequently taking centre-stage. Then, along came Microsoft and Windows Mobile, and another competitor entered the marketplace. Even then, though, their success was only slightly increased. As much as I hate to admit it, it took one mobile phone to really kick start the current boom in touchscreen phones: the Apple iPhone. Because of that single (and in my opinion, rubbish) mobile phone, everybody else upped their game. Sony Ericsson set out to make Windows Mobile cool with the X1, and Nokia, the biggest name in the business, have launched a phone designed to take on the iPhone on 2 fronts: music and that touchscreen.
